We had quite a weekend at the Painted Bride Arts Center -
As expected, every dancer who showed up was perfect, amazing, and beautiful.
Huge thanks go out to all of the dancers for participating, the extraordinary crew of volunteers who made it happen, and to Anna for doing a marvelous job of coordinating the whole thing so that JJ could focus on the photographing.
It’ll take a little while to process the pictures and video, but we’ll be updating the Frequently Asked Questions page soon to provide more information for the dancers who participated.
Thank you!

Dear dancers,
We are thrilled at the excitement How Philly Moves is generating.
Over four hundred Philadelphians signed up for the chance to be photographed for this project – and your submissions were accompanied by some fantastic comments, lots of enthusiasm, great suggestions and thoughtful criticism. All of your input is greatly appreciated!
One of this project’s greatest strengths is the idea of inclusiveness, based on the fact that everyone can dance. This also made the process of selecting who will be photographed forHow Philly Moves extremely challenging, as *every single person* that signed up is perfect for this project.
But because there is a limit to the number of people we can photograph for How Philly Moves, our selection process was informed by a commitment that this project capture the incredibly diverse range of types of dance and dancers present here and now in Philadelphia.
This week we are contacting the dancers we selected to schedule their photo sessions. We will then send an email out to everyone who submitted an application once this schedule is confirmed and all of our slots are filled.
Please also know there will be other ways to stay involved with this project, so keep an eye out for emails from info@howphillymoves.org (they may get stuck in your spam filter) and continue to check back on this site.
If you haven’t signed up for updates yet, you can still do that through the participation form.
Stay tuned for more,
-jj & the HPM team.
For a note about the selection process and answers to other questions, see the Frequently Asked Questions.
